Why are Wood Grain MDF tabletops more expensive than White or Black?

Tại sao mặt bàn MDF Vân gỗ lại đắt hơn Trắng hoặc Đen?

Why is a Wood Grain green-core MDF tabletop more expensive than a plain White or Black tabletop? Is it due to raw materials, processing, the craftsman's skill, or aesthetic factors?

1. Aesthetic Appeal and Market Demand

Wood Grain tabletops are highly favored by many users for bringing elegance and warmth to a space, similar to products made from natural wood (pine, oak, padauk, ash, etc.). Setup corners using wood tones are also popular among many users due to their high aesthetic value, creating a professional feel.

2. Production Costs and Materials

The surface of a green-core MDF tabletop is covered with a layer of Melamine or Laminate. Wood Grain colors often require a more complex printing or manufacturing process compared to White or Black, as wood grain patterns demand precise, sharp printing technology to replicate natural wood patterns as accurately as possible. Consequently, production costs can increase significantly.

3. More Complex Processing

For Wood Grain edge banding, achieving synchronization (matching patterns and colors with the tabletop) requires meticulous and precise processing, especially during the joining stage, to ensure the wood grains on the edge and tabletop align perfectly, preventing an unappealing finish.

4. Supply and Production Scale

White or Black tabletops have broader applicability as they are popular colors suitable for a wide range of users and various office concepts, thus often produced in larger quantities and scale. In contrast, Wood Grain colors have limited availability. Furthermore, some types of wood grain patterns mimicking rare woods are produced in limited quantities, leading to higher costs.

The higher price of Wood Grain tabletops and edge banding is a result of combining higher production costs, aesthetic appeal, and complexity in finishing. Users are often willing to pay more for a beautiful and high-quality product.
